Anti-Cancer Properties of Sugar Cane

Hawaiian researchers found that sugar-cane has anti-cancer properties, equal in potency to cisplatin and carboplatin, two drugs commonly used in the chemotherapy of cancer patients.

The research done in Honolulu , found that sucrose or raw sugar can be transformed into two potent anti-cancer agents that showed potential as cures against lung carcinoma and leukemia in mice. It further shows that when sugar reacts with amines, platinum and chlorine, it forms complex substances that contain anti-cancer properties parallel in potency to cisplatin and carboplatin used in chemotheraphy.
